Pag-Ibig

Yeng Constantino is preaching about love in her latest visual.

"Love is patient.
"Love is kind.
"It does not envy.
"It does not boast.
"It is not proud.
"It is not rude.
"It is not self-seeking.
"It is not easily angered.
"It keeps no record of wrongs." Yeng said in the one-setting yet fun music video of her single "Pag-ibig", which was uploaded on Youtube

Kono Yakusoku

Typecast is a post-hardcore/alternative rock band from the Philippines. Originally an underground act, they have surfaced on the mainstream Philippine music scene, while managing to hold on to their underground roots.

Santa Rosa, Laguna was home to New York-style hardcore punk bands since the early 90's. Brought up in a DIY community, the band came together in 1999, initially doing cover versions. In 2004, they released their debut studio album, The Infatuation Is Always There, which paved their way to become one of the most influential rock bands in Southeast Asia. With the release of their second studio album, Every Moss and Cobweb, in 2007, the band broke into the local mainstream with the single, "Will You Ever Learn", which won Best Song of the Year at the 2007 NU Rock Awards. This success eventually led to the opportunity to open for other popular bands such as Thursday, Shadows Fall, Darkest Hour,Good Charlotte, and Saosin.

Being the No. 1 Top Artist in MySpace all over Southeast Asia, Typecast pioneered the social networking website as a venue for independent music in Southeast Asia and holds the most number of friends and fans in the area. Having often been mistaken as an American band, even Geoff Rickly of the band Thursday said that the band reminds him of the post-rock band Explosions in the Sky.

They've been reviewed as one of the Most Influential Rock Bands in Southeast Asia according to Magmug.com, an online magazine based in Singapore and Malaysia.

For the latest Pinoy MYX countdown released just today, January 14, Sarah Geronimo's "Bakit Pa Ba" almost clinched the top spot from Slapshock's "Ngayon Na", which climbed from #5 last week to #1 this week.

"Bakit Pa Ba" debuted at #2 and by next week, expect it on top of the chart. That's for sure.

Alive

There’s a new single of a new band that is being played on the air on JAM 88.3 these days—“Alive” by NEVER THE STRANGERS. It’s nothing you’ve heard before from a local band—and it does not register immediately that the song’s by a local band. It is, all at once familiar yet new. It is a fond nod to the ‘80s New Wave’s keyboard-driven music—even the lead’s voice is reminiscent of The Cure’s Robert Smith—wrapped in an alternative beat of the ‘90s and expert guitar work. There is a sense of youthful energy and joyful exuberance that the band throws into its music that is a like a breath of fresh air in the local music industry.

Never the Strangers, after all, as the band members explained their name, comes from their love for music, how it is a common thread that brings people—even strangers—together. This unabashed idealism shows the age of its members, who are all still in college at Ateneo de Manila University.

Meet NEVER THE STRANGERS

ACE Libre—lead vocals and keyboards, PJ LaViƱa—drums and percussion, FRANCIS Victa—bassist and JP del Mundo—guitars.

Never the Strangers is a band formerly known as Leonecast—the band Ace and JP carried over from high school to college. When they realized that they are already a different band from when they had started—half of the members are new, even the band’s sound has evolved—they decided to change the name to Never the Strangers.

Wag Kang Mag-alala

2012 Warner Music Philippines "WAG KANG MAG-ALALA". EBE DANCEL's Official Music Video for his 2nd single, off the "Dalawang Mukha Ng Pag-ibig" solo debut with Warner Music Philippines, still available at all record bars nationwide!

Ebe Dancel follows up his first solo hit, Muli, with Wag Kang Mag-alala, which debuts at the OPM Myx Countdown at #16. Seems like Ebe is doing well away from his former band Sugarfree. Their farewell concert in Eastwood this year was one of my most read concert reviews for this year.
